travel to shanadar cave

(Alt.: 2,200 m) The historic Shanader Cave is located on the
Bradost Mountain within the borders of the Mergasoor district. It is well-known for its distinct triangular shape. It is set at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level with a height of 18 meters and a dept of 40 meters. It is considered to be one of the largest and most ancient caves in Iraq, dating back to 60,000 years BC. It was used during the revolution times as a hideout for the Peshmerga. Excavations were first enacted in 1951 by Mr. Ralph Solecki, an archaeologist who analyzed the stone layers and managed to pinpoint the age.
